How a Theme Transforms an Event

Event planning is a unique skill that requires special attention to detail and the ability to see the bigger picture. It’s no small feat. Selecting a theme gives an opportunity for creativity and takes advantage of a solid way to tie every piece of the event together to create one unforgettable experience.

There’s a few ways to select a theme, depending on the type of event. Corporate parties, seasonal events and weddings are all perfect for applying an overall theme. With the right graphic design and visual touches pull all the little details together to make it easy for guests to be immersed in the theme.

The right graphics will be able to tell the full story of your theme, while all those thoughtfully planned table settings, centerpieces, invitations and details create a full sensory experience. While graphics like a floor wrap should certainly catch the attention of guests, it should also contribute to creating a feeling of cohesiveness to the entire theme. The right graphic design pieces will do just that.

There’s plenty of themes to choose from, with something to fit every occasion:

Seasonal Themes

Make guests feel like they’re experiencing spring (or any holiday or seasonal activity) no matter what the weather is. Once they step into the event space you can use floor and wall wraps to create a true feeling of the outdoors.

For summer, think greens, bright flowers in full bloom, warm colors and sunny skies. Spring calls for light florals, pops of color and even pastels while fall means cozy reds and yellows, pumpkins and leaves. Winter calls for blues and whites, snowscapes and evergreen trees.

Geographical Themes

You can also choose your theme based on a geographic region. Having your event at a winery? Transform the room into Tuscan countryside with wall graphics of rolling hills and grape trees.

It’s easy to make attendees feel as though they’ve traveled thousands of miles to a distant location. The right graphics can even separate an event into different regions. For example, if you’re setting up a food tasting you can break it up by areas of the world.

Popular geographic themes include:

  • Paris
  • Luau/Hawaii
  • Oktoberfest/Germany
  • Mardi Gras/New Orleans

Movies and Shows

Turn any space into a scene from a well-known movie or show to have guests feeling like they were a part of the filming. Wall graphics provide photo opportunities for guests who may be in costume while signs and banners can be used to highlight memorable moments of the film. For example, an Alice in Wonderland theme may have “Drink Me” signs next to the bar or even a full bar wrap.

Even a general Hollywood theme can be lots of fun. Some of our favorite movie themes we’ve seen are:

  • Grease
  • James Bond
  • Pirates of the Caribbean

Tie it all together

Graphic design goes a long way in bringing together every aspect of an event. Depending on where the event is being held, custom signage coordinated with the event theme will set the tone right away for the spectacular event guests are about to experience. Use banners and wall graphics throughout the space to not only create a full effect but to also give guests a place to take pictures.

If you’re not sure how to use graphics to take create a themed space, the right printer will be able to help you come up with ideas to make your theme a reality.
